I use photography as a hobby and love to photograph people in a candid, natural and outdoors with a
human interest/photojournalism format.  I am a Nikon-ist, owning a D300 with  fixed  f2.8 lenses. I also like
the D-90 for about half the price. When attending an event, I like a variety of situations and I never know
what to expect and how fast I will have to capture the situation; therefore, I keep the mode settings on
automatic or aperture priority as I may not have time to tamper with the camera controls except the feature
dial. I avoid using flash on people whenever possible and do not carry a tripod but I do carry a good walk
around zoom lens.  I love  competition from judges I do not know as this is the reward for my efforts.  For
the most part, I do not  photograph once in a lifetime events or do photography for money as it adds stress
to my hobby.  I have never wanted to be a professional photographer (do it for living) and enjoy photography
for fun. I learned camera settings by first understanding the simple Sunny 16 rule.  My goal is to provide
photography opportunities for the community and seek talented people to provide these services. I am
proud to be a volunteer at Spencer-Penn Centre and hope others will join their team.

I have always loved to travel and this beautiful world that God created for us has always inspired me.  Photography is my favorite hobby.  I love trying to capture that moment in time when the sun comes up in the quietness of the morning, or the sun sets down over the mountains or the ocean, the landscape with the brilliant sky, or faces of people around me.  I have always been the one in my family with the camera; snapping pictures at every special occasion.  I have done a few family wedding pictures and portraits.  Photography is mostly a hobby for me.

I have learned so much from the photography clubs.  We have a lot of talented people in this area and it is a pleasure seeing other people's work in the photography club.  We learn from one another and I especially like for my work to be critiqued at the meetings so that I can improve.  I mostly work with a Nikon D5000 and use a Nikon 18-200mm lens so that I don't have to keep changing lens.  However, one of the best portraits that I have taken was of a little girl at a wedding and I took the picture with a point and shoot Sony Cyber-shot 7.2 mega pixels. There are a lot of good point and shoot cameras that do a great job.

My goal is to keep learning and hopefully improve on my skills as a photographer.

I received a camera for Christmas in 2007 (a Kodak point and shoot Z712IS) and used it on occasion.  I started really using the camera in 2008 and have fell in love with photography.  My favorite thing to shoot is nature and animals and usually in black and white or sepia tone.  I feel that black and white just tells a story better and I just love old fashioned pictures which is why I love sepia.  Since joining the SPC photo club, I have gotten out of my comfort zone and started photographing other subjects.

I also enjoy working with the computer and website design and look forward to learning to manipulate photos.
